I am attending this conference which has not been held in England for 21 years. It is the 70th anniversary year of the founding of the Council of Christians and Jews - 70 years of pioneering vision as Revd David Gifford, the Director of CCJ said.
There are about 180 people from all over the world. We have been welcomed by Christians and Jews from Manchester, where there is also a vibrant Jewish Muslim dialogue.
The title of this event is New Neighbours, New Opportunities, The challenges of multiculturalism and social responsibility. Dr Debbie Weissman, President of the ICCJ quoted Churchill - The price is greatness is responsiblity. We are all responsible for enlarging a sense of care for others that goes beyond immediate barriers.
More tomorrow.
