How are you celebrating 400 years of the King James Bible?

Are you going to mark 400 years since the creation of the KJB?

In Bath, for instance, there will be a non-stop reading of the King James Bible, day and night, from Tuesday 1 March until Saturday 5 March as part of the Bath Literature Festival.

Let us know how you will celebrate...

"The Viral Bible Project is a year-long campaign aimed at illustrating how the Bible continues to influence, inspire and direct people's lives 400 years after King James published the authorised version.

"Each Viral Bible has a unique code printed on the cover, so that you can log onto www.viralbibleproject.com key in the number sequence and track its journey, as well as draw inspiration from other people's chosen verses."

As a RAF Chaplain I have organised a project throughout Lent to copy out the gospels. This has been welcomed by those in and around RAF Cranwell. One lady spoke to me on Thursday commenting that it has inspired her to go home and do the same and since the beginning of Lent she has been copying out the bible little by little and so far has got to Genesis chapter 20. The project will now continue and I plan to go into the local primary school and hold workshops with the children who know me very well because I take assemblies on a regular basis.

The People's Bible project, from the Bible Society and Scottish Bible Society, aims to create a handwritten digital Bible.

During a nationwide tour from June to November 2011, people will be asked to use a digital pen to hand write a pair of Bible verses which will then be uploaded to the Internet.

You can see a video of the project here.

Today, the Archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams, preached at a thanksgiving service for the 400th anniversary of the 1611 Authorized (King James) translation of the Bible, attended by Her Majesty The Queen and TRH The Duke of Edinburgh and The Prince of Wales.

You can read the full text of the sermon on the Archbishop of Canterbury's website.
